allergies, immune system, probiotics
this season for the first time in my life, after having been born and raised in the DC metro area, i suffered from allergies. it lasted about a week and was pretty bad. not knowing at first that it was allergies, i thought it might be a cold. but after taking a single dose of claritin, i felt 80% better. so i continued the claritin for a few more days until the symptoms subsided. this was a few weeks ago when we had really high pollen counts.
anyway, i spoke with my accupuncturist (yes, i have an accupunturist! doesn't everyone?) and he recommended a couple things to help my immune system deal with pollen naturally (as it used to). the main thing was probiotics. i have heard of probiotics before but didn't fully understand what they were for.
anyway, i've recently purchased some decent quality probiotics (they were refrigerated) from the healthfood store and have just begun taking them. i would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has used probiotics before --or-- or has somehow conquered their allergy problems in some natural way.
i'll repost after a month or two detailing my experience with probiotics.
here's a link on wiki about probiotics:

An effective way of handling pollen allergies is by taking local honey which is produced as close to where you live as possible. A small dose of local honey taken for few weeks before the pollen season immunizes you against pollen, in effect avoiding any allergy problems. Raw, unheated and unfiltered honey is supposed to be best for this purpose, as heating and processing of honey (which most commercial honey producers do) significantly reduces the medicinal contents of the honey.

That was if you want to prepare for the coming season. However, if you already have an allergy, you can try Organic Apple Cider Vinegar according to the following dose for a few days. In most cases, people see an improvement in one day itself. Ofcourse they cure it completely in a few days.
2 Tablespoons of Organic ACV (preferably Bragg's brand) mixed in about 1/2 cup of water, 2-3 times a day!
Good luck!
awesome. this is just the kind of info i'm looking for on this site.
fortunately i am no longer feeling any ill-effects from allergies, but if i do, i will try local honey first and apple cider vinegar second.
thanks free
Apple Cider Vinegar seems to be a cure for many many conditions! acid reflux, now this, anything else it helps?
