Headaches

I often get pretty bad headaches - sometimes it feels like an overall throbbing sensation, and other times it feels like a short, sharp, shooting pain on one side. I've been told they are migraines or tension headaches related to stress. I never thought I was stressed out about anything, but every so often I do try to just sit, relax, and clear my mind of any thoughts and it does help.

I agree, simply being cognizant and cued helps.
Sitting back, and recognizing that your body is probably signalling for some mental rest is the first step in alleviating these headaches.

Studies have shown that when a subject with pain of any time is forced to exercise, and to engage in relaxation therapies, even when the patient has to be coerced into participation, that the pain is reduced and the headaches improve.  consider finding a class on guided imagery or self hypnosis, both teach a person how to meditate which is a focused relaxation.

I heard that meditation really helps rid you of headaches. If Im having a headache I'll retreat and find a quiet place to sit and relax and maybe even read a book. I also sometimes drink mint or chamomile tea to help relieve my headaches, which works pretty well.
