Kudos to you for keeping that weight off! I can only imagine it took a lot of perseverence and determination. I think i need to learn from you and perhaps designate a couple of days a month to eat fatty foods. Have your symptoms decreased with your improved eating habits and weight loss?
My symptoms have decreased, now that I am eatting healthy. The Doctors wanted to put me on methotrexate,I tried it but got very sick from the side effects. Then they tried plaquenil, that did not work well either. Every once in a while I have a flair up,of my lupus, due to stress, but overall I do fell better.
I was diagnosed in 2001 with lupus. I'm surprised plaquenil didn't help you, it really did help me. As a matter of fact after katrina I ran out of it and before I could find a doctor where we were staying in Houston to prescribed me some, I got in so much pain I couldn't get myself in and out of the bathtub, climb stairs and needed help out of bed every morning. With in days of getting back on it I was in a lot less pain. I'm currently taking methotrexate but very unhappy with it. I keep getting headaches after every shot, bad ones and I don't feel like its helped me to any degree that would make it worth the problems it causes. I'm losing handfuls of hair from taking it and haven't been in this much pain since that time after Katrina and being without my plaquenil. Other then diet are you taking any alternative medicines that you've found help? I've lost 50 pounds which is about all I needed to lose through diet and have kept it off but I still insist on drinking 2 sodas a day, which I know I should do without.
I found that I was sensitive to wheat and gluten when they were diagnosing my autoimmune disorder. They were ready to give me hard-core drugs for Lupus when I changed my diet. Since then, I have had very few flareups and none that required steroids or other Rx.
This time year, I try my best too get out with my 110 lbs dog & go power walking w/ my big wolf dog, We go for two to 3 mile walk's up hill And I work a 40 plus hour a week job with no children.. But I do feal sooo much better :0
Way Cool...I am stuggling to keep my wt down...How did you do it..can you give details...thanks!
