Two days post ACL reconstruction surgery
It has been two days since I had my acl reconstruction surgery. Everything seems to be going well. Pain meds have been very effective in keeping me comfortable and I have been able to keep up with the rehab exercises that my doctor perscribed. This will help me with my overall rehab and helps me gain my range of motion and strength back quicker.
I think the lifestyle changes that I made over the last few years have had a huge positive effect in my recovery. I think my body is very effective at dealing with both the flesh wounds as well as the bone healing that is required for an ACL reconstruction. In a nutshell, here is what I have done:
- Quit smoking
- Quit drinking
- Move to a diet of whole grains, including whole wheat bread, brown rice, whole grain pasta, and raw sugar
- Eat natural, organic foods whenever possible
- Quit sodas, sugar, ice cream(very little), processed food, coffee, anything with artificial sweetners, chemicals, etc
- Quit eating all meats and poultry
- Reduce dairy
- Eat fish (esp, salmon)
- Eat much more vegetables
- Eat more whole fruits but less fruit juices
- Exercise at least 3 times a week, usually 5, sometimes 6
My next big project, and probably the hardest one, is to get more sleep!
Cheers
