always hungry

well, i am finally starting to lose a little weight this summer...after stepping up my exercise regime to a solid 5 hours a week.  but i find i am always hungry.  at first it was encouraging and i would just drink water and enjoy the fact that i was losing weight.  but now i just want to eat!    i've only lost three pounds over the last month, so nothing drastic or anything but a step in the right direction.

any tips on how to cope with the hunger?

veggie shakes!

pure nutrition and almost no calories :-)   but it fills you up.

tried it once, really didnt like it.   although you do have the right idea with the veggies.  i guess i could always steam some frozen mixed veggies with some salt and pepper and eat that - not much calories there either, but more tasty :)

well, how about fresh veggies instead of frozen?

be sure to chew properly (when i was kid they said 24 chews per bite, though i guess it depends on what you're eating).

anyway, i've heard that proper chewing (basically liquefying the food in your mouth) is good for digestion, prevents heartburn and bloating and can even help you lose weight!

if your jaw starts to ache, maybe you should try fruit smoothies and add some spinach/kale or carrots.  you won't even taste them!  the sugar in the fruits is all your taste buds will notice.

in fact, my wife and i had one tonight.  i added about 4 ounces of spinach (though she didn't know i was doing that) and when i handed the glass to her she said, "IT'S REALLY GREEN!"  but she admitted that she couldn't taste the spinach at all.  (it contained one peach, 2 bananas, one mango, vanilla soymilk and spinach!)
