achilles tendon

Recently, after coming back from (an extended) spring break vacation, I have picked up with my exercise routine with full determination.  I returned to the classes at my gym that I normally would go to.  The first part of the week was fine, but then Friday morning I noticed during the step class that my achilles in my left leg starting hurting me.  It went away by the end of the class and I didnt remember about it until Saturday when it did the same thing.  Again, it stopped bothering me during class at some point.

I did take time to warm up and stretch with the class, and I am wondering what could be the issue here?  I don't want to aggravate it to the point where I can't do step anymore.     Could it be my shoes?  They are running shoes maybe 4 months old...

or maybe certain step moves that put more strain on them?  any ideas?

hmm.. I don't really know but you may want to experiment with the way you step - are you keeping your whole foot on the step? Are you truly utilizing your quads? I'll try looking up some things.. if I find anything, I'll let you know.  I hope you find the problem and the solution!

well, my aerobics instructor advised I change my running shoes into cross trainers.  So, I didnt do any more step for the two days before I got knew shoes.  I havent had any trouble since, but this past week i've only done two step classes.  I think I will limit my step to two or three times a week.
